HOUSTON — Former Washington reserve guard Elston Turner Jr. says he’ll transfer to Texas A&M.
The son of Houston Rockets assistant coach Elston Turner announced plans to leave the Huskies last month. He tells KRIV-TV in Houston that he chose the Aggies because it’s where he “felt the most comfortable” and it’s where he “could affect the game in many ways,” not just with his shooting.
Turner was a big factor as a sophomore in the Huskies’ surge late last season to the Pac-10 tournament crown and the NCAA tournament round of 16. The former Fort Bend Elkins star averaged 4.6 points in 66 career games at Washington and proved to be the Huskies’ best shooter from the perimeter, hitting 38 percent of his 3-point tries.
