On the eve of their first home game of the 2009 season, the Snohomish County Explosion announced they have released center Brad Kanis.
General manager Sean Keck made the announcement Friday.
The 7-foot-2 Kanis averaged 16.5 points and 10 rebounds in the International Basketball League team’s first two games this season.
The Explosion said in a statement that the move was made, in part, to create more playing time for the team’s other big men, Jeffery Day and Chris Ford.
To fill Kanis’ spot on the roster, the Explosion activated guard Mike Boyle, who played for the team last year.
The Explosion (1-1) play their home opener Saturday night against Seattle. Game time is 7:15 at the Monroe Sports Arena.
