LAKEWOOD, Colo. – This time the Everett Explosion got the last laugh.

Everett got its revenge Saturday night, defeating the Colorado Crossover 122-120 on a last-second shot, and avenging its only loss of the season.

Finding themselves trailing late in the game, Explosion coach Randy Redwine called a timeout and drew up a play for his star forward, Rashaad Powell.

Powell got the ball, and sunk a buzzer-beating shot to turn the tables on the Crossover, who defeated the Explosion on a last-second shot the night before.

“It was a very exciting game,” Redwine said. “Truly a good team effort.”

Redwine praised Powell, who finished with a game-high 41 points, saying he played a “good all-around game.”

Powell had seven rebounds, two assists and a couple steals to go along with his second 40-plus game of the season.

The Explosion (3-1) led by more than 20 points during the game.

The “pace of the IBL is tough to pick up,” Redwine said. “No lead is safe.”

Antwon Jones had 18 points for Everett and Justin Murray added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Corby Schuh added 11 points for the Explosion off the bench.

He was a “tremendous lift,” Redwine said. “His baskets came at critical times.”

The Crossover were led by Jermaine Mason who scored 26 points. Phillip Hillstock added 24 for Colorado (3-3).

Redwine is excited to see Everett begin to mesh early on in its first season.

“We have good team chemistry,” Redwine said. “(This game) showed the character of the Explosion. They were professionals all the way.”

The Explosion’s next opponent is the Tacoma Jazz. Everett faces the Jazz, who are at the bottom of the International Basketball League’s West Division, at 7:15 p.m. on April 20 at the Tacoma Dome.
