SAKHIR, Bahrain — Williams’ Nico Rosberg has proven himself the star of Formula One practice sessions by setting the fastest time ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
For the seventh time in 11 practice sessions, the German topped the time sheets again Friday. He’ll be hoping he can transfer that pace to Sunday’s race.
Rosberg went around the Sakhir circuit in 1 minute, 33.339 seconds to finish in front of Renault’s Fernando Alonso and Toyota’s Jarno Trulli. He also was faster than the Red Bull pair of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, who finished 1-2 in last week’s race in China.
Championship leader Jenson Button of Brawn GP followed that group.
Felipe Massa was 16th and teammate Kimi Raikkonen was 18th for struggling Ferrari, which hasn’t won a point this season.
