BOTHELL — Where would the Lynnwood girls basketball team be without Mokun Fajemisin?
Not the 3A state regional playoffs that’s for sure.
The junior post had her way with Ferndale in the District 1 third-place game, leading the Royals to a 58-37 win Friday night at Lynnwood H
igh School.
“Mokun is a very dominant player and she really showed that tonight,” Lynnwood coach Everett Edwards said.
Fajemisin had a game-high 20 points, 16 of which came in the first half when the game was still competitive.
Leading by 11 at half, the Royals raced to a 12-3 run to start the third quarter and never looked back.
The Royals advanced to the regional playoffs, which begin Friday.
It wasn’t the way Lynnwood coach Everett Edwards drew it up — having to fight through the loser’s bracket, but he’ll take it. Losing to Glacier Peak at home in the second round wasn’t part of the plan.
“It was a reality check for us,” Edwards said. “This was an elimination game. And to win an elimination game is huge for us.
