The Game
Saturday’s win was something of a continuation of Friday’s 5-2 victory over Spokane. Only Saturday the Silvertips scored twice in the first period – seven seconds apart no less – and were never really threatened the rest of the way.
Remi Laurencelle had a breakout performance with two goals, while Devon Skoleski had a goal and an assist. Dawson Leedahl had a goal and an assist, and Carson Stadnyk had two assists.
Head coach Kevin Constantine said the Tips got “a little beat-up” with this stretch that included three games in four days. Cole MacDonald played Saturday after sitting out with an upper body injury Friday. Carter Hart took a puck to his upper body that evidently hit somewhere not protected by his equipment. He stayed in the game after he was looked at by a trainer, but we’ll closely monitor that throughout the next week.
Everett leaves tomorrow morning for Cranbrook, B.C., where the Tips will play the Kootenay Ice on Tuesday.
The Turning Point
The Tips scored twice at 3:13 and 3:20 in the first period. That was all they needed as Hart turned in his third shutout of the season.
Three Stars
1. Everett F Remi Laurencelle: The 20-year-old scored twice and finished with five goals on the weekend after going 10 games without a goal.
2. Everett F Dawson Leedahl: The captain scored a goal and had an assist.
3. Everett G Carter Hart: The 17-year-old had 23 saves as he recorded his third shutout of the season.
