A tad short for QB, isn’t he?
Washington coach Lorenzo Romar got a kick Tuesday out of the latest tweeting fun from Huskies point guard Isaiah Thomas.
Last year’s Pacific-10 Conference Freshman of the Year posted on his Twitter page that “I wanna play football nxt year” and emulate one of his mentors, former Huskies two-sport player and NBA star Nate Robinson.
The 5-foot-8 Thomas joked that he’s so multitalented he might play quarterback with Huskies star Jake Locker, or perhaps take running back Chris Polk’s starting job.
“Did he say he wanted to play football? I wanted to play football too,” laughed Romar, who played basketball for Washington and then in the NBA into the 1980s. “I did until eighth grade.”
Thomas said later in the day that the tweet was a joke.
“I want to, but I probably won’t,” Thomas said with a smile. “I love football. But who knows.”

The New Orleans Saints quarterback on forging a successful career despite the naysayers who said he was too short to play in the NFL, had too weak of an arm and succeeded in college only because Purdue’s system was designed specifically for him.
