The state Department of Fish and Wildlife will allow unlimited catch and keep fishing later this month at Schallow Pond and Alta and Fish lakes, all in Okanogan County.
Officials plan to poison the lakes with rotenone to kill unwanted fish like goldfish and bullheads in the lakes.
It will allow people to keep all the fish they want from Sept. 30 through Oct. 22. The lakes will then shut down for treatment.
“There’s no reson why anglers can’t catch as many trout, perch, and other gamefish as they can find prior to the lake treatments,” Jeff Korth, the agency’s fish manager in Ephrata, said in a statement..
