The Seattle Mariners have hired two former major leaguers for their minor league staff, Carl Willis as pitching coordinator and Andy Stankiewicz as field coordinator.
Willis, 48, was the Cleveland Indians’ pitching coach the past seven seasons. He pitched for the Tigers, Reds, White Sox and Twins over 12 seasons and won World Series rings with the Tigers in 1984 and Twins in 1991.
Stankiewicz, 45, was an assistant coach the past four years at Arizona State University. He played parts of seven seasons with the Yankees, Astros and Expos. He also spent four seasons in the Yankees organization as a scout and minor league coach.
