ALGER, Wash. — Two-time former Dirt Cup champion Jonathon Allard led flag-to-flag en route to winning the 30-lap A main feature on the second night of the 37th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by Camping World RV on Friday at Skagit Speedway.
The race within the race was for second place, with Barry Martinez and Brock Lemley swapping places back and forth. On lap 24 Martinez and Lemley along with Steve Kilcup were involved in an accident that put all three out of the race.
Brent Kaeding finished second, Jared Ridge was third, Colton Heath came in fourth and Tyler Walker rounded out the top five.
Seven drivers transferred out of the B main, which was won by Tayler Malsam. Joining Malsam in moving up were Danielle Huson, Brandon Johnson, Bud Kaeding, Jesse Whitney, Kyle Hirst and Kilcup.
Winning the C Main was Mike Sather with Johnny Gray taking the second and final transfer spot into the B main.
Heat race winners were Martinez, Jason Bloodgood, Jeff Hodgson, Lemley, and Brent Kaeding.
The field is set for the Saturday night A main, minus the B main transfers. The top six — Walker, Jayme Barnes, Roger Crockett, Allard, Whitney and Lemley — will run the scramble to set the first six positions in the main.
Rounding out the feature are Travis Rutz, Hodgson, Mitch Olson, Brent Kaeding, Aaron Fell, Eric Fisher, Martinez, Heath, Malsam and Tim Kaeding.
Saturday night’s finale for the $25,000 top prize gets underway at 7 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m.
