Forsberg pitches Monroe to North title

LAKE STEVENS – Ashly Forsberg tossed a gem, striking out 12 batters – including five of the first six Vikings she faced -while giving up just two hits to lead Monroe to a 7-0 victory over Lake Stevens Tuesday.

Monroe clinched the Wesco North championship with the win.

“(Forsberg) was on top of her game today,” Monroe head coach Curt Eskeback said. “Seven (strikeouts) were on called third strikes – four of those on changeups.”
