The inaugural Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup takes place on Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Blackfalds, Alberta, this year, pitting the best 15-year-old players from the four western provinces — British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba — in a four-team round-robin tournament for provincial supremacy. And it just so happens that the Silvertips will be represented on each of the four teams:
– Center Jari Erricson, Everett’s second-round pick in this year’s bantam draft, will be playing for B.C.
– Defenseman Nicholas Walters, the first of Everett’s first rounders, will suit up for Alberta.
– Center Kohl Bauml, Everett’s third rounder, will represent Saskatchewan.
– Left wing Jordyn Boyd, the Tips’ sixth rounder, will skate for Manitoba.
I guess that means the Tips won’t have a particular rooting interest in this tournament.
