KEIZER, Ore. – Jason Snyder did everything in his power to keep the Everett AquaSox’s postseason hopes alive.

The AquaSox starting pitcher threw seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight in Everett’s 8-1 victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Friday night, ending Everett’s five game losing streak.

Despite his team’s recent struggles, Snyder has pitched well over the last few weeks. In his past four starts, Snyder has gone 1-0 with three no decisions, allowing two runs and striking out 22.

Snyder cruised through seven innings of work Friday. He retired the first ten batters he faced before giving up a solo home run to Todd Jennings in the fourth inning.

After Brian Horwitz singled later that inning, Snyder didn’t allow a baserunner the rest of the game.

It was a much needed outing for an AquaSox team that had lost 10 of its past 11.

The Frogs offense also broke out of their slump.

Everett had 12 hits, the first time they had more than 10 hits since August 14th.

Frogs designated hitter Marshall Hubbard finished 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Mike Wilson, who had struck out in his first three at-bats, added a bases-clearing double in the eighth.

Salem-Kiezer starter Justin Hedrick struck out nine in five innings of work.

The Volcanoes three hits were its lowest hit total of the season.

The AquaSox win coupled with Vancouver splitting their doubleheader against the Eugene Emeralds helps Everett gain a 1/2 game in the standings.

With two games left the AquaSox are two games back and need to sweep the final two games of its series against the Volcanoes to have any shot at the postseason.

Everett must also hope for an Emeralds sweep of Vancouver over the weekend.
