Turning point

Everett took the game’s first three penalties in the first period, but managed to kill all three off and keep it scoreless going into the second period, where the Silvertips took control.

Hit of the day

Everett’s Jordan Mistelbacher rode Chris Vanduynhoven hard into the boards, taking Vanduynhoven off his feet and onto his back.

Three stars

First star: Leland Irving, Everett. Tips goaltender was sharp, particularly in the first period when the Cougars had their best chances.

Second star: Peter Mueller, Everett. Scored Everett’s second goal and created several other chances.

Third star: Jesse Zetariuk, Everett. Had a solid game at the back for the Tips.

The Herald’s honorable mention: Jesse Smyke, Everett. Played a big role in Everett’s first goal and did yeoman’s work on the penalty kill.

Scratches

For Everett, forwards Shane Harper, Jesse Burt and Matt Ius and defensemen Mike Alexander, Tyler Hlookoff, Matt Strong and Jeff Regier were healthy scratches.

For Prince George, defenseman Jesse Dudas (leg) was injured. Forwards Jordie Deagle and Steven Kajcic and defenseman Lance Redden were healthy scratches.
