Former University of Washington football coach Keith Gilbertson didn’t have to look far to find a new job.
The Snohomish native is joining the Seattle Seahawks as an offensive consultant. Gilbertson, who resigned as Huskies coach last November, was a Seahawks assistant from 1996 through 1998 under Dennis Erickson.
Gilbertson was Seattle’s tight ends coach his final two years with the Seahawks before joining the University of Washington as tight ends coach in 1999. He was promoted to offensive coordinator the following year and took over for ousted head coach Rick Neuheisel in 2003.
In two seasons as UW’s head coach, Gilbertson had a 7-16 record. His all-time record as a college head coach, including stops at Idaho and Cal, is 55-51.
Gilbertson has been coaching since 1976, when he joined Don James’s UW staff as a graduate assistant. The 1966 Snohomish High School graduate turned 57 in May.
