TACOMA — Andre Winston Jr. had 36 points and Lakes cruised past Glacier Peak 74-61 on Thursday, advancing into the semifinals of the Washington Class 3A boys state tournament.
Winston Jr., who scored 29 points in a win over Franklin on Wednesday, took an elbow to the face and still managed to convert a breakaway dunk to give the Lancers a 16-7 edge late in the first quarter.
Lakes (22-4) then went on an 8-0 run early in the second quarter to take control. Isaac Winston, Andre’s brother, added 10 points in the half as the Lancers built a 15-point edge by halftime.
Isaac Winston finished with 14 points.
Glacier Peak (20-6) managed to pull within 10 in the final minute but could not get closer.
Tanner Southard led the two-year-old school with 14 points. Brandon Hill added 13.
