Here’s even more insight on the area’s boys soccer scene. The following six players are among the most exciting, skilled athletes you’ll see this season. The list was compiled by Herald Writer Dan Sargent.
Evander Ochoa, Lakewood junior
AND
Evan Fassler, Cedarcrest senior
Devastatingly quick forwards who could compete for player of the year honors in the Cascade Conference. Fassler and Ochoa should help their respective teams compete for the conference title and venture deep into the Class 2A state tournament.
Mickey Crudo, Shorecrest senior
Stout defensive-minded player who is the glue for the Scots. Crudo plays sweeper and defensive midfielder, depending on what Shorecrest needs. He leads by example and should guide the Scots into the Class 3A state tournament.
Nick Burdett, Marysville-Pilchuck senior
Intelligent player in the Tomahawks’ midfield who makes his teammates better. Burdett’s strong leadership skills should help first-year coach Geoff Kittle and M-P contend for the Western Conference North Division title and one of three Wesco Class 4A state-tourney berths.
Dorian Lair, Shorewood junior
The Thunderbirds’ goalkeeper could lead Wesco in shutouts and keep Shorewood in contention for a district playoff spot, and possibly more.
Brendon Gundry, Snohomish sophomore
A talented, opportunistic forward who capitalizes on opponents’ defensive mistakes. He will lead by example and propel a Snohomish squad that lost 15 players from its 2007 roster.
