LETHBRIDGE – Backup goaltender Mike Wall demonstrated why the Everett Silvertips traded for him at the beginning of the season.
Wall turned away all 19 Lethbridge shots on goal and teammate John Dahl had a goal and three assists for Everett as the Silvertips defeated the Hurricanes 5-0 on Friday night.
Everett (6-7-3-0, 4th in the U.S. Division) evened its record on the current road trip to 1-1. Lethbridge drops to 9-11-2-3 overall.
Dahl scored the Silvertips’ first goal of the game 1:56 into the second period, on assists by Barry Horman and Stewart Thiessen.
Four and a half minutes later Horman scored to give Everett a 2-0 edge. Dahl and Riley Armstrong assisted.
Armstrong scored twice in the third period, his fourth and fifth goals of the season, to give Everett a 4-0 lead. Chad Bassen closed out the game’s scoring with a short-handed goal with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation.
