Kentridge guard Gary Bell Jr. has been named the Gatorade Washington Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
Bell, a senior guard, averaged 28 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game in leading the Chargers (21-0) to a sixth-place finish at the recent Class 4A state tournament.
Bell has signed to play at Gonzaga next season.
The honor makes Bell a finalist for the National Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.
