Gonzaga thumps San Diego 82-60

SAN DIEGO — Silas Melson scored a career-high 18 points, Domantas Sabonis had 17 points and 17 rebounds and Gonzaga beat San Diego 82-60 on Thursday night.

Gonzaga (22-7, 14-3 West Coast Conference) closes the season at BYU on Saturday night with an opportunity to earn at least a share of the conference title.

Dustin Triano’s 3-pointer with 3:46 left capped the scoring for Gonzaga at 82-50 which matched the Bulldogs’ largest lead.

The sophomore Melson reached double-digit scoring for the fourth time in his last five games. Kyle Wiltjer had 16 points, Kyle Dranginis scored 12 and Josh Perkins added 10 for Gonzaga, which never trailed after the opening minutes and pulled away with a 20-4 run early in the second half.

Olin Carter III had 13 points to lead the Toreros (8-20, 3-14).Duda Sanadze, Jito Kok and Vasa Pusica added 11 points each.
