GRANITE FALLS – The Meridian girls basketball team found the going tough on Monday, as the Granite Falls defense held the Trojans to nine points in the second and third quarters helping the Tigers to a 51-37 nonleague victory.
Granite Falls held a 41-29 rebounding edge over Meridian.
“We did a nice job defensively in the middle half of the game,” Tigers coach Mark Neuman said.
Granite Falls’ 5-foot-10 post Audrey Murphy grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds and 5-9 forward Micheala Dudder had seven rebounds and 10 points.
Granite Falls’ Jacque Goss sparked the offense with 17 points and five assists.

Ferndale 3, Anacortes 0: At Everett, Megan Young bowled a 176 game and 491 series to lead Ferndale to the victory.
Everett 3, Mount Vernon 0: At Everett, Andrea Hurley had a 202 game and bowled a 516 series as teammate Brianna Kinman had a 234 game and 566 series to lead Everett (30-6) to the Wesco victory.
Jackson 2, Cascade 1: At Everett, Jackson’s Alicia Wright had a 224 game and a 490 series to lead Jackson (27-9) past Cascade in the Wesco meet. Sara Elliott had a 224 game and 579 series for Cascade (29-7).
