Here’s what I found out today. Tips captain Jonathan Harty, who suffered a hip injury in Friday’s game at Kelowna and hasn’t played since, will not play tomorrow against Saskatoon. However, the injury turned out to be just a hip pointer. Therefore he’s listed as day to day and is hopeful to be back for Friday’s game against Brandon.
As for the offense, the Tips have been trying out all kinds of players on a line with Zach Hamill and Kyle Beach, seeking combinations that might give Everett two lines capable of scoring goals. However, in Saturday’s game at Vancouver, Everett coach John Becanic went back to the Hamill-Beach-Dan Gendur line during the second half of the game. It looks as though they might remain together for a while. While those three constitute one of the most dangerous lines in the WHL, it also leaves the Tips without a proven scorer on any of its other lines.
Finally, it’ll be good to see Ondrej Fiala again. The former Silvertips left wing, who was traded to Saskatoon three weeks ago to help clear up Everett’s overager and Euro situations, appears to have settled well with the Blades, racking up seven points in five games.
