RENTON — While Seneca Wallace is likely to start at quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks again this Sunday, coach Mike Holmgren is expecting his usual starter back at some point.
Holmgren said Monday that he got some good news in that Matt Hasselbeck is on the road to recovery. Hasselbeck hasn’t played since the Oct. 5 game against the New York Giants because of a bulging disk in his back that has sapped some of the strength from his legs.
“Matt is making progress,” Holmgren said Monday. “HIs strength is returning, from what I’ve been told. The feeling is that he’s going to play this season again. When, I don’t know — but my hope is sooner rather than later.”
Hasselbeck spent part of last week visiting a specialist in Los Angeles. There is a chance he’ll return to the practice field soon, but his timetable for coming back to play in a game is still unknown.
Wallace is 1-2 while filling in for Hasselbeck.
Holmgren added that middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu (groin) and fullback Leonard Weaver (foot) are expected to return to the practice field this week.
