You gotta love the NFL offseason, when seemingly little things can blow up into somewhat big stories. Today we have Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck and Jets CB Antonio Cromartie in a bit of a Twitter feud.
First a bit of background: On Monday, Cromartie made some disparaging comments about the NFLPA’s union leadership with a potential lockout looming. That didn’t go over well with a lot of players, who are trying to present a unified front as they head towards a labor battle.
Fast forward to this morning when Hasselbeck chimed in, tweeting: “Somebody ask Cromartie if he knows what CBA stands for.” It appears Hasselbeck quickly realized that publicly criticizing a member of their union for damaging union solidarity was counterproductive, because he quickly deleted the message. Well that didn’t keep it from becoming public (as we all know, once you put something on the internet, it’s impossible to make it go away completely), which led to Cromartie firing back with: “@Hasselbeck hey Matt if u have something to then say it be a man about it. Don’t erase it. I will smash ur face in.
Good times.
Hasselbeck is now trying to defuse the situation, writing: “A_Cromartie31 Sorry for the joke man. No hard feelings. DB’s & QB’s have a hard time getting along I guess sometimes. lol.”
Hopefully they’ll get together and hug it out soon.
