Tyrone Willingham just informed us that tailback J.R. Hasty has left the team.
It is not immediately know what the former Bellevue High standout will do. Hasty came to Washington as one of the prized recruits in the class of 2005 and redshirted as freshman. He missed last season after failing to qualify academically. This year, he was in a battle for the backup tailback job with freshmen Brandon Johnson and Curtis Shaw. Though Johnson and Hasty were listed as co-backups on this week’s depth chart, offensive coordinator Tim Lappano indicated Tuesday that Johnson had won the job. Hasty had just six carries for 18 yards this season.
Willingham said Hasty’s departure became final Today, but that he was not at practice yesterday.
