Hemmerling lifts Silvertips past Blazers in overtime

The 18-year-old’s goal in the extra period gives Everett a 3-2 win and snaps a five-game losing streak.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Ben Hemmerling scored 1 minute, 28 seconds into overtime and the Everett Silvertips beat the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Wednesday night to snap a five-game losing skid.

Jackson Berezowski potted his 20th goal of the season to give the Silvertips a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Kaden Hammell scored for the Blazers at 16:37 in the second period, but Ryan Hofer answered just under a minute later as Everett took a 2-1 lead into the final frame.

Ryan Michael scored just 42 seconds into the third to even the game that ended deadlocked after regulation before Hemmerling lifted the Silvertips to the overtime win on assists from Austin Roest and Berezowski.

Tyler Palmer made 22 saves on 24 shots to earn his first win for Everett (17-17-1-0).

Dylan Ernst had 38 saves for Kamloops (21-7-4-2).
