KENT — Ben Hemmerling scored the game-winner in overtime, his second goal of the game, as the Everett Silvertips remained unbeaten early in the season with a 5-4 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night at ShoWare Center.
Hemmerling and Hunter Campbell scored in the opening period as Everett jumped out to a 2-1 lead.
Seattle scored twice in the second period and Austin Roest scored for the Silvertips as the game went into the final intermission tied 3-3.
Leon Okonkwo gave the Thunderbirds a 4-3 lead with a goal at 3:56 in the third period, but Alex Swetlikoff scored at 14:10 to force overtime.
Braden Holt stopped 26 of 30 shots for Everett (3-0-0-0).
Jordan Gustafson, Conner Roulette and Reid Schaefer added goals and Thomas Milic stopped 29 of 34 shots for Seattle (2-1-1-0).
