RENTON — Mike Holmgren has been around long enough to understand the interest in rumors, so far be it for the Seattle Seahawks’ coach to try to stop them.
What he will say is that, no matter what the media reports, he is taking 2009 off.
“People are going to write what they’re going to write,” he said. “I’m telling you what I’m going to do. I’m going to take some time off. That’s in fairness to everybody.”
Holmgren’s name has been attached to several rumors as the NFL season winds down, with people tying him to possible openings in places like San Francisco and Dallas. But Holmgren said during his Wednesday press conference that he has no plans to accept a job at all in 2009.
“Timing is what it is, and I’m not going to worry about it anymore,” he said, referring to the possibility that his dream job might open up in the coming months.
