RENTON — Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Wednesday that he has not read about the rumors of his name being tied to the opening in San Francisco, but he didn’t close the door on them either.
“Right now, as I’ve told you, the plan is to take a year off and find a little bit about myself,” he said. “That’s the plan. And I think I’ve been consistent with that.”
Asked whether a set of circumstances could arrive that would cause Holmgren to skip his one-year sabbatical, he said he did not want to get into “hypotheticals right now.”
Holmgren added that his primary focus is on the remainder of the 2008 season.
“This is my home,” he said. “Seattle’s my home. This is my team. We talked more than a few times in here about my future. Right now, we’ve got to figure out how to win a game for the Seattle Seahawks. All the rest of the stuff is speculation.”
