EVERETT — A walk, a hit batter and a home run was all it took to sink the Everett AquaSox on Friday night at Funko Field.
Leading by two runs over Eugene in the top of the seventh inning and with two outs already recorded, AquaSox reliever Brendan McGuigan walked Patrick Bailey, hit Will Wilson with a pitch and served up a three-run shot to Sean Roby as the Emeralds took the lead and held on for a 4-3 win, snapping Everett’s three-game win streak.
The AquaSox offense was held to just two hits in the game, an RBI double by Joseph Rosa and a base hit from Connor Hoover. Everett’s other two runs were both recorded via Emeralds errors.
Emerson Hancock started for the AquaSox and allowed one earned run on three hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Hancock walked three and struck out one. Ben Onyshko tossed 2.1 hitless innings in relief of Hancock, and David Ellingson finished the game for Everett (20-13) with 1.2 innings of hitless relief.
Starter Seth Corry allowed only one hit and one earned run over 4.2 innings for Eugene (20-14).
