Here are four local prep events to keep an eye on this week:
1. Softball: Lake Stevens at Jackson, 4 p.m. Tuesday. With two weeks left in the regular season, three teams have a legitimate chance to win the Wesco 4A title. Lake Stevens is atop the conference at 9-1, and Jackson and Monroe are tied for second place, a game back.
2. Boys soccer: Kamiak at Glacier Peak, 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Grizzlies can capture the Wesco 4A championship with a win or tie in this contest. Kamiak’s hopes of earning a top-two seed and a playoff bye took a hit with a loss and a tie last week.
3. Golf: Bill Egbers Memorial Tournament, 8:30 a.m. Friday. This 36-hole event, held at Skagit Golf & Country Club, has turned into one of the most talent-heavy prep tournaments in the state. Among the local schools scheduled to compete: Arlington, Glacier Peak, Kamiak, Lake Stevens, Monroe, Snohomish, South Whidbey and Jackson.
4. Track and field: Everett City Meet, 4:30 p.m. Friday. The boys and girls squads from Jackson, Everett and Cascade compete at Everett Memorial Stadium. Athlete to watch: Jackson sprinter Daniel Arias, who won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter runs at a tri-meet April 20.
