Here are three prep events to keep an eye on this week:
Girls basketball: Top of the Peak Holiday Tournament, Thursday through Saturday at Glacier Peak H.S. This eight-team tournament includes six teams that reached their classification’s state regionals last season. Participating teams are Chiawana, Edmonds-Woodway, Glacier Peak, Kentlake, Lewis and Clark, Peninsula, Sunnyside and defending 2A state champion W.F. West. The title game is slated for 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
Boys basketball: Mountlake Terrace Holiday Tournament, Friday and Saturday at Mountlake Terrace H.S. The annual eight-team tournament includes Ballard, Edmonds-Woodway, Kamiak, Lakeside, Mountlake Terrace, Marysville Pilchuck, Sedro-Woolley and Sunnyside.
Girls basketball: Lake Stevens at Snohomish, 7:15 p.m. Friday. Two of the area’s top programs in recent years square off in a non-conference clash. Raigan Reed averages 16.3 points per game for Lake Stevens, which topped 70 points in back-to-back contests earlier this month. Snohomish is led by a tough defense that’s allowed just 42.9 points per game, despite facing a challenging non-league slate.
