Hot Tickets: Top Wesco 4A boys basketball teams to play crucial contest

Here are five local prep events to keep your eye on this week:

1. Boys basketball: Kamiak at Glacier Peak, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. A Glacier Peak win gives the Grizzlies a two-game lead over the Knights for first place in Wesco 4A with two games remaining in the regular season.

2. Girls basketball: Jackson at Mariner, 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. These two teams are battling for fourth place in Wesco 4A — and the right to host a first-round district playoff game.

3. Boys swimming and diving: Last Chance Meets, 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Marysville Pilchuck, and 3:30 p.m. Friday at Snohomish Aquatic Center. Wesco 4A and 3A swimmers and divers get their final opportunities to post district and/or state-qualifying times before their district meets.

4. Boys wrestling: 4A District 1 tournament at Glacier Peak, 4 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. Saturday. Wrestling postseason gets under way and culminates with Mat Classic XXIX on Feb. 17-18 in the Tacoma Dome.

5. Boys basketball: Shorecrest at Stanwood, 7:15 p.m. Monday. This game could decide the Wesco 3A championship.
