Some of the many high school sports events to watch this week as the postseason begins:
Boys and girls basketball: 4A Wes-King Bi-District tournaments, various days and sites. The boys and girls tournaments tip off Thursday and Friday, respectively, with Wesco 4A seeds 3-6 facing KingCo 4A seeds 3-6 in loser-out contests. The winners advance to Saturday’s bi-district quarterfinals.
Boys and girls basketball: 3A Northwest District tournaments, various days and sites. The girls tournament tips off Wednesday with play-in games involving seeds 7-10. The winners advance to Friday’s district quarterfinals. The boys tournament begins Thursday with its play-in games for seeds 7-10, followed by quarterfinals on Saturday.
Boys and girls basketball: 2A Northwest/Sea-King Bi-District tournaments, various days and sites. The girls tournament tips off Wednesday with loser-out games involving seeds 5-12. The winners advance to Friday’s bi-district quarterfinals. The boys tournament begins Thursday with its loser-out games for seeds 5-12, followed by quarterfinals on Saturday.
Boys wrestling: 4A Region 1 Tournament: 10 a.m. Saturday at Glacier Peak H.S. Wrestlers from Wesco 4A and the South Puget Sound League 4A square off for spots in next week’s Mat Classic.
Boys wrestling: 3A Region 1 Tournament: 10 a.m. Saturday at Bonney Lake H.S. Wrestlers from the Wesco 3A North, Northwest Conference and Pierce County League battle for Mat Classic berths.
Boys wrestling: 3A Region 2 Tournament, 10 a.m. Saturday at Kelso H.S. Wrestlers from the Wesco 3A South, Greater St. Helens League 3A and KingCo 3A square off for Mat Classic spots.
Girls wrestling: Region 1 Tournament, 10 a.m. Saturday at Sedro-Woolley H.S. Local wrestlers and numerous others from across the region battle for Mat Classic berths.
Boys swimming: 4A and 3A Northwest District finals, 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday at Snohomish Aquatic Center. Local teams battle for district supremacy ahead of next week’s state championships. The 4A finals start at 10 a.m. and the 3A finals at 4 p.m.
