Hot Tickets: What to watch this week in prep sports

Jackson faces Snohomish in a softball showdown, plus intriguing league matchups in soccer and baseball.

Four prep sports events to watch this week:

Baseball: Arlington vs. Everett, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The Seagulls open Wesco 3A North play with a three-game series against the Eagles. Last year, Arlington went 18-0 in conference play and reached the Class 3A state tournament. Everett has struggled for much of the past decade, but is off to a 2-0 start with wins over defending Wesco 4A champion Cascade and reigning Wesco 3A South champion Meadowdale. The first and third games are at Everett Memorial Stadium. The second game is at Arlington.

Boys soccer: Glacier Peak at Lake Stevens, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. After falling one win short of state during a breakthrough 13-win campaign last season, the senior-laden Vikings are looking to build on last year’s success. Lake Stevens should receive a good test in its Wesco 4A opener against the Grizzlies, who earned a share of the conference title last season and reached the 4A state quarterfinals.

Softball: Snohomish at Jackson, 4 p.m. Wednesday. The defending 4A state champion Timberwolves square off against the reigning 3A state runner-up Panthers in a non-league showdown. Snohomish scored 38 runs in its first three games. Meanwhile, Jackson ace Iyanla Pennington has yielded just three earned runs in 19 innings pitched.

Boys soccer: Marysville Pilchuck at Archbishop Murphy, 6 p.m. Thursday. Former Cascade Conference powerhouse Archbishop Murphy continues its inaugural season in Wesco 3A/2A with a matchup against defending league champion Marysville Pilchuck. The early-season clash features a pair of brothers on opposite sidelines, with Paul Bartley coaching MP and Michael Bartley coaching Archbishop Murphy.
