SEATTLE — Less than a week after announcing that freshman running back Deontae Cooper had been lost for the season after re-injuring his anterior cruciate ligament, the University of Washington football team went back to Southern California to find a replacement.
The Huskies added depth at the running back position Tuesday by signing Downey, Calif., product Kyle Lewis to a financial aid agreement.
Lewis will compete for time at a position that returns three past contributors in starter Chris Polk and primary backups Jesse Callier and Johri Fogerson. The Huskies also have one of the state’s top incoming freshman runners in Bishop Sankey, a product of Gonzaga Prep High School in Spokane.
