It’s been known for a while that Dan Cozzetto was leaving Arizona State to join Steve Sarkisian’s staff, but the school finally confirmed it this afternoon. Cozzetto will be the offensive line coach and also hold the title of run-game coordinator.
Also, Doug Nussmeier, who was hired earlier as the quarterback’s coach, was given the title of offensive coordinator. Dussmeier was the offensive coordinator at Fresno State before coming to Washington.
Nussmeier will be paid $275,000 next season and $300,000 in year two of his contract. Cozzetto’s contract is worth $300,000 per year for two years.

SEATTLE – Washington head football coach Steve Sarkisian announced the hiring of a new assistant coach and a change in coaching staff assignments today. Former UW assistant Dan Cozzetto was hired as offensive line coach and run game coordinator, and Doug Nussmeier, who was already on the staff as quarterbacks coach, was named offensive coordinator.
Nussmeier was hired as the UW’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator last month. A star quarterback at Idaho in the early 1990s who went on to a career in the NFL and CFL, he came to Washington after having served as the offensive coordinator at Fresno State last season.
Cozzetto, who was the Huskies’ offensive line coach in 2003, comes to the UW after having spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons as tight ends coach at Arizona State. He had also previously worked as the offensive coordinator and o-line coach at ASU from 1992 to 1999.
A native of Spokane, Wash., Cozzetto has spent much of his coaching career in the Pac-10 and the Northwest. He worked on Dennis Erickson’s staffs at ASU (2007-08) Idaho (2006), the San Francisco 49ers (2004) and Oregon State (2000-03). He’s also worked at California (1990-91) and Idaho (1979-89).
Cozzetto graduated from Idaho, where he played tight end, linebacker and guard on the football team.
With Cozzetto’s addition, Sarkisian has now completed all of his coaching-staff hirings.
