Nice comeback effort by the Dawgs, but the end result is a 79-75 loss to Cal.
Cal took a big lead after going on a 14-4 run in the second half, and led by as many as nine before the Huskies came back to tie it in the final minutes, but a Patrick Christopher 3-pointer with 25 seconds left gave Cal the lead for good.
That’s the first time Washington has been swept in a home series since losing to USC and UCLA in 2004.
Ryan Appleby, who couldn’t hit anything early, finished strong and ended the game with a team-high 19 points. Artem Wallace had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Jon Brockman had 15 points and just four rebounds.
Ryan Anderson had a huge game for the Bears with 33 points and 17 rebounds.
Again, free throws killed the Huskies, as they went eight for 18 while Cal was 14 of 16.
