SEATTLE — The final piece of Washington’s coaching staff was officially announced Thursday, as one time UW assistant Dan Cozzetto was named the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.
Additionally, Doug Nussmeier, who was hired as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator last month, was named the offensive coordinator.
Both moves were made necessary because Jim Michalczik, who was hired in December to be the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator, instead decided to leave for a job with the Oakland Raiders.
Cozzetto, the Huskies’ offensive line coach in 2003, spent the last two seasons as the tight ends coach at Arizona State. A native of Spokane, Cozzetto also served as the Sun Devils’ offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 1992 to 1999, and has spent much of his career working under Dennis Erickson.
Nussmeier, a standout quarterback at Idaho, spent last season as the offensive coordinator at Fresno State. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has said he will handle play-calling duties for the offense.
Cozzetto will make $300,000 per year for two years, while Nussmeier will earn $275,000 in the first year of his contract and $300,000 in the second year.
