SEATTLE — The University of Washington men’s basketball team is hoping that the No. 13 is a lucky one.
The Huskies were ranked 13th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Top 25 poll that came out this morning.
UW had 364 points, six behind No. 12 Cal. The Huskies and Bears were the only Pac-10 teams in the poll.
Kansas received 27 of a possible 31 first-place votes and had 770 points, putting the Jayhawks as the preseason No. 1. Michigan State, Texas, North Carolina and Kentucky rounded out the top five.
The Huskies return three starters from last season’s team, which finished 16th in the poll.
UW opens its season with an exhibition game against Central Washington next week.
