We’re now less than 24 hours from tipoff (unless the first game of the day goes to a couple of overtimes). The Huskies are on the floor going through an abbreviated practice. They had their full practice earlier today, but the teams also do these quick practices that fans are allowed to come watch.
It’s worth noting that Jon Brockman is not practicing in a mask today because, though none of us heard about it at the time, he broke his nose in Washington’s loss to Arizona State last week. That makes six broken noses for Brockman, and apparently now they’re such a minor thing that he still manages to play over 30 minutes despite the injury and doesn’t seem to suffer any ill-effects from it.
The team seemed to be relaxed and in a good mood in the locker room before this practice, with the common thought being that they need to treat this game like any other and avoid as many of the distractions as they can.
And now we’re getting a lot of dunks on a fast-break drill, which is to the liking of the few hundred people here at the Rose Garden.
