Husky football and basketball are moving to the left on your radio dial.
Beginning this fall, KJR (950 AM) will carry University of Washington football and men’s basketball, taking over for KOMO (1000 AM), which had broadcast Husky sports 21 of the past 24 years. New game announcers have yet to be named.
KJR was named the Huskies’ flagship station on Monday by Action Sports Media, a Paul Allen company that in December signed a four-year radio deal with the UW worth almost $8.5 million.
UW women’s basketball games will be broadcast by another station, yet to be announced. KJR also will broadcast weekly call-in coaches shows for UW football and men’s and women’s basketball.
KJR also broadcasts Seattle SuperSonics games. In the event of a scheduling conflict with a UW basketball game, the Sonics would remain on KJR and the Huskies would move to one of KJR’s Seattle-area affiliates.
