Inglemoor’s Schuler fires no-hitter at Marysville-Pilchuck

Herald staff

BOTHELL – Marysville-Pilchuck’s flailing bats pretty much matched the weather.

Windy and cold.

In Monday’s fastpitch softball season opener, Inglemoor pitcher Megan Schuler dealt the Tomahawks a 4-0 no-hit non-conference setback.

Schuler had 14 strikeouts, allowed just one walk, and was supported by the 10-hit attack of her teammates.

“Not too shabby for being just a sophomore,” M-P coach KT Allyn said. “She just did an outstanding job for them.”

Inglemoor, of the Kingco Conference, scored two runs in both the first and fifth innings off M-P’s Emily Weitzel, who went the distance for the Tommies.

Inglemoor’s Kim Boscacci singled to start both rallies and wound up 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Vikings catcher Jan Moshier was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

M-P’s lone highlight was the defensive effort of Lisa Jones at second base, who recorded five putouts and had a diving stop to her credit.

“She was the queen of the diamond defensively,” Allyn said.

Unfortunately Inglemoor countered with their ace.
