Everett will again be minus three forwards for Wednesday’s game at league-leading Portland, but the identities of the three have changed.
Those out Wednesday are center Landon Ferraro (concussion), center Manraj Hayer (concussion) and winger Campbell Elynuik (shoulder). Ferraro has missed five games already. Hayer and Elynuik both were injured Saturday at Seattle and sat out Sunday’s game at Tri-City.
Returning Wednesday is winger Scott MacDonald (shoulder), who sat out the entire weekend. Center Parker Stanfield (concussion) returned Sunday after missing seven games.
Portland will be down two players itself, but for different reasons. Key defenseman Joe Morrow and depth winger Seth Swenson were both suspended for their roles in a fracas that took place Saturday against Kamloops.
Wednesday’s game takes place at the Rose Garden rather than at Memorial Coliseum, where Everett’s previous two visits to Portland took place. That’s significant because the Rose Garden has a full-sized ice sheet, while Memorial Coliseum has a smaller surface. Whether that change that aids the Tips against this Portland team is debatable.
Finally, live blogging returns for the game against Portland after being unavailable for Everett’s past two road games (I covered the game in Seattle on Saturday and had an event to attend Sunday). So be here to be part of the community.
