It’s Josh Wilson (not Jack) back at shortstop tonight against the Cubs

Not much news going into tonight’s game against the Cubs.

Everybody’s healthy who should be healthy, which means Erik Bedard remains in line to make his second minor league rehab start Saturday for the rookie-level Peoria Mariners (throwing about 70 pitches) and Doug Fister is set to come off the disabled list and start Saturday’s game at Milwaukee.

There are a couple of interesting elements to the Mariners’ lineup tonight.

First, Jack Wilson isn’t in it. Josh Wilson is starting at shortstop, although it’s a stretch to say Jack Wilson is sitting because of what I refer to as his cluster-bunt last night, when he fouled off three straight pitches trying to drop a sacrifice in the seventh inning. This is more about making sure Josh Wilson gets plenty of playing time and that Jack Wilson isn’t overworked on that tender hamstring after spending nearly six weeks on the disabled list.

Also, Casey Kotchman will start at first base for the first time since Saturday. Since losing his fulltime first-base duty to Mike Carp the first week of June, Kotchman has started three of nine games.

Second baseman Chone Figgins is back in the lineup after missing his first game of the season Tuesday night. He’d been to the dentist earlier Tuesday and came away with an upset stomach.

And finally, closer David Aardsma remains on baby watch. His wife, Andrea, was due to give birth to their first child Sunday, but so far no contractions. Aardsma said if we see him sprint across the field in the middle of the game, we’ll know things are happening on the baby front.

Tonight’s lineups:

Derrek Lee, first base
