It looks like the Huskies are going to have work hard to earn the Portland city championship. After squeaking out a win over Portland on Saturday, Washington is getting another tough test tonight from Portland State.
It’s 43-37 at halftime, and it’s safe to say this close game is a lot more entertaining than Saturday’s. After a slow start on offense for both teams, the points have been coming in hurry.
Ryan Appleby has 15 points on five of six three-point shooting, and he may not be the hottest shooter in the joint. Portland State’s Mickey Polis is five for five on threes, and he was run over by Jon Brockman on one of those, leading to a four point play. Might be time to start guarding him a little closer, eh?
So far the Huskies are shooring 66.7 percent from three, while the Vikings are at 77.8 percent.
If this game goes down to the wire, thank Appleby for giving the Dawgs a little breathing room at halftime. The score was tied at 37 in the final minute, but Appleby hit two threes in the final 30 seconds, including a buzzer beater on which he drove the length of the floor and pulled up for an-nba range shot as time ran out.
After a sub-par game against Portland, Jon Brockman looks like he’s back to his old self with 10 points and five rebounds.
