Shortstop Jack Wilson’s tender right hamstring officially is more than a day-to-day thing. The Mariners have placed him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 6, and called up Matt Tuiasosopo from Class AAA Tacoma.
I’m eager to see how manager Don Wakamatsu uses Tuiasosopo, who was batting .321/.525/.357 at Tacoma after being optioned there May 2. Will Wak rotate him into the lineup occasionally or will Tui strictly serve as a bench guy who, because of his ability to play infield and outfield, would give the manager late-inning options in case of emergency?

BALTIMORE, Md. – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President &General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:
· SS Jack Wilson placed on 15-day Disabled List (retro to May 6) with a right hamstring strain.
· INF/OF Matt Tuiasosopo recalled from AAA Tacoma.
Wilson, 32, made 25 starts at shortstop before being sidelined after one at-bat May 5 vs. Tampa Bay. He is batting .253 (19×75) with 7 doubles and 7 RBI.
Tuiasosopo, 24, opened the season with the Mariners making 5 starts (1B – 2, LF – 1, SS – 2). He was batting .182 (4×22) before being optioned to AAA Tacoma on May 2 (post-game). In 8 games with the Rainiers, Tuiasosopo hit .321 (9×28) with 5 runs, 1 double, 5 RBI and 12 walks (.525 OBP).
