Jackson baseball star Brent Lillibridge, considered by many scouts to be the state’s top recruit, has made a verbal commitment to play for the University of Washington.
Lillibridge, a shortstop and right-handed pitcher, said he chose Washington because he wanted to stay close to home and have to opportunity to play as a freshman. He also said he received almost a full scholarship offer.
The early signing period for NCAA letters of intent begins Nov. 5.
Lillibridge will be eligible for the Major League draft in June, but said it would take a $1 million or greater signing bonus to lure him away from the Huskies.
“College is very important to me,” Lillibridge said.
