Jackson clinches state playoff berth

EVERETT – The Jackson Timberwolves got two goals from Kristi Kingma and shutout the Everett Seagulls 2-0 in a Western Conference South Division soccer game Tuesday night at Lincoln Field at Everett High School.

With the victory, Jackson (7-0-1 in division, 10-1-4 overall) clinched at least a share of the Wesco South title and have secured a state berth as well as the No. 1 seed out of the South to the 4A district playoffs.

“This is exciting,” Jackson coach Mike Bartley said.

Kingma scored her first goal on an assist from Dani Oster. Her second came via Lauren Staudacher.

Goalkeeper Dee Wood recorded her ninth shutout of the season in 10 Jackson wins.

“Dee has played great all season,” Bartley said.

Everett improved from 1-8-0 in division and 1-14-1 overall in 2004, to 4-5-0, 7-8-1 this season.

Kamiak 2, Mountlake Terrace 0: At Mukilteo, Kelli Stewart had a goal and an assist to lead the Knights to the Wesco South victory.

Shorecrest 6, Lynnwood 2: At Lynnwood, Sylvia Olsby had a hat trick and Lindsay Willar had three assists to lead the Scots to the Wesco South victory.

Meadowdale 2, Shorewood 2: At Shoreline, Lee Martin and Ashley Correa each scored a goal to help Meadowdale to the Wesco South tie.

Edmonds-Woodway 7, Mariner 0: At Edmonds, Carly MacKay had a hat trick to lead the Warriors to the Wesco South victory.

Snohomish 3, Arlington 0: At Snohomish, Sindia Windrum scored a rebound goal off a Minde Politte shot that hit the post in the 79th minute to lead Snohomish to the Wesco North victory.

Goals-Snohomish: own goal, Willis, Windrim. Assists-Snohomish: Politte. Goalkeepers-Arlington: Welk. Snohomish: Goverde. Records-Arlington 0-14-1 in division, 0-14-1 overall. Snohomish: 12-2-1, 12-2-1.

Stanwood 1, Cascade 0: At Stanwood, Niki Pollock scored the lone goal to lead the Spartans to the Wesco North victory, keeping alive their slim hope for a district playoff berth. They need a victory over Snohomish and a Cascade loss or tie vs. Mount Vernon on Thursday.

At Stanwood H.S

Goals-Stanwood: Pollock. Goalkeepers-Cascade: Gegax. Stanwood: Ludwig. Records-Cascade 7-4-4 in division and overall. Stanwood 7-6-2, 7-6-2.

Cedarcrest 1, Archbishop Murphy 0: At Duvall, Jamie Coe scored the lone goal of the game to give Cedarcrest the Cascade Conference championship. Sarah Holerud earned her11th shutout of the year for the Red Wolves, who have allowed only one goal in league play all season.

At Cedarcrest H.S.

Goals-Cedarcrest: Coe. Goalkeepers-Archbishop Murphy: Jelinek. Cedarcrest: Holerud Records-Archbishop Murphy 8-2-0 in league, 13-2-1 overall. Cedarcrest 10-0-0, 14-1-1.

Sultan 5, Lakewood 0: At Sultan, Amanda Burnside scored twice and tallied an assist for Sultan in the Cascade Conference win. Prior to the game, Lakewood won a shootout to settle a suspended game.

At Sultan H.S.

Grace Academy 2, North Sound Christian 1: At Mountlake Terrace, Alex Witt and Chris McAuliffe each scored a goal for Grace Academy, leading it to the Northwest B League championship and a No. 1 seed in the district playoffs.
