MUKILTEO — Jackson clinched the Wesco South by virtue of a tie with Kamiak Thursday. The tie also keeps Kamiak’s hopes of second place alive. The Knights led in shots on goal 14-6.
According to Kamiak head coach Beth Stewart the first half was all Kamiak. “We were pounding their goal and could have gotten one of them to fall. We needed to take advantage of one of the scoring opportunities. They played us pretty even the second half… they definitely changed things.
“It is always a battle,” said Stewart, “both teams bring a great effort every time we play each other… we enjoy playing them. The two teams match up very well, they are great competitors for us.”
Emma Makela was in goal for Kamiak (7-4-1 league, 7-6-1 overall), while Whitney Carter was keeper for Jackson (11-1-2, 11-2-2)
